Tip: I attended a real estate seminar once which was held at a popular Manhattan hotel. It started at 9am right after the continental breakfast. I don’t know if it was the effect of the donuts, bagels, pastries, croissants and muffins that made everyone languid. No one was paying attention to the speakers and everyone seemed half asleep. There was almost no sign of life in the audience…that was until the third speaker took over the mike.
This energetic speaker pulled out a $20 bill from his pocket and walked along the front row asking, “Who wants this?” The audience came to life with many yelling out their answer, “ME, ME”. He continued walking close to the attendees dangling the $20 bill in front of everyone’s face and kept asking the question in a voice that grew louder and louder with each repetition of the question, “WHO WANTS THIS, WHO WANTS THIS?” Then he started stomping his feet. This took a while until somebody got up and grabbed the bill from his outstretched hand. “There you go my friends…” he continued, “you cannot make money unless you get off your ass and grab every opportunity that is being offered to you”.
Then the attendee who got the money proceeded to return the $20 bill to the speaker, at which point the speaker said, “My friend it’s yours. You worked for it”. Then everybody started paying attention to the speakers for the rest of the seminar. I’ve copied this trick in some of my seminars. You’re welcome to use it too because you purchased this book. Over the years, I’ve put a different twist to this trick during my seminars.
