Are you a fan of scary readings?
I'm a BIG fan.
Everything from true crime and criminal investigation procedurals to bump-in-the-night scary stories. I enjoy books and movies on just about anything terror-related with one big exception: I can't stomach torture.
I skipped every single one of the Jigsaw horror movies for that very reason.
But I keep this "back shelf" in my digital library full of books to read when I'm in the mood for a good thrill.
You know what I mean...
Those dark and stormy nights when a chill sets in and your mind starts to second-guess every little creak in the floor boards.
When what should be the wind sounds like a tortured voice groaning your name just outside the front door.
Or when the moonlight coming through your window catches that huge oak tree in the front yard, leaving the shadow of a twisted, almost-human figure on the wall.
I usually save these kinds of books for my favorite of all seasons (autumn) because the weather here is more agreeable for that setting; but I'll share my special stack with you now because the weather in YOUR neck of the woods may be just right at this moment.
Besides, scary happens all year long: it doesn't call for rhyme or reason and isn't limited to any season.
So grab a cup of your favorite beverage. Turn down the lights, pull that cozy afghan up to your chest as you snuggle onto the sofa or in your easy chair.
Get comfortable then pick a title.
Any one of these should do...
